Muscat offers the visitor a unique opportunity to witness a modern commercial centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. With its natural harbour, Muscat means “Anchorage” & lies in a natural volcanic bowl. Our tour of the Grand Mosque (except Friday) & Bait Al Zubair Museum (except Friday) is a brief introduction that traces Oman’s history and development. Drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the Fish Market & the colorful Muttrah Souq. We proceed for a photo stop to the magnificent Al Alam Palace, official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos flanked by the 16th-century Portuguese forts Mirani & Jalali.

Nizwa, capital of the interior, is the birthplace of Islam in the Sultanate of Oman. Nizwa boasts of the famous Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century, and its Souq renowned for its Friday cattle auction, intricately hand-carved “Khanjars” (daggers) & ornamental silver jewellery. Jabrin, the finest of Oman’s castles built in the late 17th century, became a seat of Omani learning. The castle displays the highest achievement in Omani ceiling painting & beautifully executed woodcarvings. En route to Muscat visit the pretty village of Birkat Al Mauz situated at the foothills of Jebel Akhdar (Green Mountains). Enjoy a walk through its oasis and dense date plantations.

Late we drive through the date palms to the village of Nakhl and visit the Nakhl Fort. This fort once served the Imams of Bani Kharous and the Ya’arubah dynasty.  After recent restoration work carried out on the fort, it is refurbished with traditional furniture, handicrafts, and historic relics. The ceilings, the doors, and windows are decorated with beautiful carvings. The view from the roof-top is very impressive and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. The old village of Nakhl which nestles below the fort gradually leads to the

Famous warm Springs of Nakhl situated at the end of an attractive Oasis.  Relax by the side of the shallow waters of the springs surrounded by lush green date plantations and steep mountain peaks.

We drive to the magnificent Al Alam Palace, the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said the ruler of Oman. The palace is an architectural marvel for both its design and its location between the twin Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali (A brief photograph stop from outside only). We then visit Muttrah Souq – one of the most popular souqs in the Middle East. Take a walk in its labyrinthine alleyways beckoning with a myriad of merchandise, from imported fabrics to exotic Oriental spices, perfumes, and richly handcrafted artefacts. A visit to this frenetic, pulsating hub of Muscat’s old quarter makes for a delightful experience. Here, scents of exotic Arabian perfumes and spices float through the air. Other shops specialise in famous Omani khanjars (daggers), antiques, traditional silver jewellery, and handicrafts in copper, camel bone, wood, leather, and hand-made Omani costumes.

0830 Hrs Pick up from port.

This tour provides us with many interesting contrasts. We proceed towards the fishing town of Quriyat through the stark mountain terrain. Drive through this fishing village visiting the 400-year-old Quriyat Fort before heading for the Fish souk where a variety of fish is traded for local consumption as well as export. Drive along the picturesque waterfront. There is a good chance of spotting Flamingos and Eagles at an inland stream. From here we proceed towards the coast and visit the spectacular Bimah sinkhole which is a limestone crater with blue-green water at the bottom. We then start on an adventurous route cutting through the mountains. At the end of the drive,  Wadi Arbayeen awaits with its deep pools of water set among the date palms. Enjoy a picnic lunch here (included). Drive back via Wadi Mazara.

The Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand and dunes rising up to 200 meters are also host to a variety of flora and fauna. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Visit a Bedouin house in this wilderness. In stark contrast to this is Wadi Bani Khalid. It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water.

0900 Hrs Transfer from port to Marina Bandar

Set cruise on the water of Oman in an unforgettable Arabic Dhow. The dhow is traditional wooden boat and these were used from Oman, UAE to India, Iran, and the other neighboring countries. See Muscat coast through the eyes of ancient seafarers who plied this route for centuries. Relax and enjoy the true flavors of Omani coffee, a brief stop at a natural cove. Photograph the spectacular Al Bustan Palace Hotel before we return back to the pier for the transfer to the hotel.

0900 Hrs transfer from port to Marina Bandar

Transfer from the Muscat hotel to the pier side to embark on a boat as we sail into the sea for Dolphins and Whales. Watching wild dolphins is a thrilling way to start the day and the lucky may even come across one of the many species of whales that can be found just a few kilometers from Muscat’s rugged coast. Not every trip guarantees a sighting, but you are sure to enjoy a trip out to sea and enhance your knowledge of nature’s most fascinating marine mammals.

0830 Hrs Pick up from Salalah Port

We leave the Hotel at 08:30 hrs. & proceed to visit “ The Museum of the Frankincense

Land”. Opened in July 2007 at Al Balid Archaeological Park, a UNESCO heritage site located in Salalah, the Frankincense Land Museum is the latest addition to Oman’s heritage and cultural scene. (Opened Sat-Wed 8:00 – 14:00 & 16:00 – 20:00, Thu – Fri 16:00 – 20:00)

It houses two main halls, namely the History Hall, depicting the geography, history of the ancient Frankincense trail and the historical background of the Sultanate through a number of archaeological findings, and The Marine Hall, featuring displays about the development of

Oman’s rich marine history. A complete history of the Maritime trade & shipbuilding industry of Oman could be experienced here, with meticulously carved replicas of the ancient boats & ships of the Omani Maritime trade.

Drive through lush green plantations of vegetables & fruits. Make a brief stop to taste a fresh coconut water drink at fruit stalls (at own cost) lining the streets within the periphery of the old Salalah town (Haffah). Make a Photo stop at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque.

View the Official Palace of His Majesty the Sultan (Al Husn Palace) & stroll through the old Haffah souk, famous for the sale of high-quality Frankincense & numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. The smell of frankincense fills the souk. Haffah souk is very attractive with its small shops lined up with straight piles of incense boxes, clay incense burners colorfully decorated with traditional patterns and bags of incense crystals. This gives us an

Ample opportunity for shopping, before we return back to the Ship.

After tour drop off at Salalah Port


We start our half-day exploration of Dhofar by driving towards the ‘Qara’ mountains. (Tour start at 9:00 or 14:30 hrs) On a road steadily winding up a steep incline, herds of Camels & Cattle are a common sight which gives a scenic view of a traditional Dhofari rural beauty. Visit the ancient tomb of ‘Prophet Job’ situated in the scenic green mountains of the Salalah Plains. Experience the legendary story of Prophet Job and his devoutness.

Proceed to the beach of Mughsail where the white sand touches the deep blue of the ocean & at high tide, where waves burst through the natural titanic ‘Blow Holes’, at the far end of the ‘Rocky beach’ with a cave-like entrance.

We thereafter continue along the ‘Hair-pin-bend’ road towards Western Border of Oman, with its breathtaking cliffs on either side, to see the historical ‘Frankincense trees’ growing in their natural habitat, deep down in the valleys, dotting the dry & craggy countryside. We take a short walk into the valleys to smell the ‘Holy Incense’ amidst the scenic view of the region.

On our return journey, we make a photo stop at the lagoon at Mughsail where migratory birds – occasionally flamingos – are a common sight.

Return transfer to the Salalah Port to join the ship.


0830 Hrs Pick up from Salalah Port

The excursion begins with a visit to the old fishing village of ‘Taqah’, famous for the ‘Dried Sardines’ & its traditional & old ‘Dhofari Houses’. Visit the century-old ‘Taqah Castle’, the former official residence of the ‘Wali’ (Governor) of the region & obtain a glimpse into the rich history of the region.

Continue onto the ancient ruins of the once famous city of Sumharam (Khor Rohri). The city was the easternmost outpost of the Hadramawt Kingdom on the ancient incense route between the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, and India. Khor Rori was an important port on the coast of Dhofar, and one of the major trading cities with frankincense believed to have been the hub & harbour for the shipping of Frankincense (UNESCO World Heritage site). A picturesque drive then leads you to ‘Mirbat’, the ancient capital of Dhofar, and the beginning of the ‘Frankincense trail’. Stroll through the streets lined with old Omani mud houses & visit the ‘twin-domed Bin Ali’s Tomb’ as a photo stop …a classic example of medieval architecture.

On our way back to the hotel, explore the beauty of Wadi Darbat.

Return transfer to the Salalah Port to join the ship.


0830 Hrs Pick up from Khasab Port

This half-day excursion provides an introduction to parts of the Musandam Peninsula and its capital of Khasab. Khasab Fort Visit this picturesque stronghold built in the 17th century by the Portuguese seeking dominion over the maritime trade in the Strait of Hormuz. The fort was erected to prevent attacks from the sea. Teak wood from India was used for its construction and the roof was fashioned from a mix of palm leaves and clay. Within its low, crenelated walls, the fort contains a large central tower which is thought to pre-date the fort itself. The structure you see today is the result of extensive restoration work carried out in the late 20th century. The fort’s location offers excellent views and photo opportunities.  Wadi Tawi rive to Wadi Tawi where one could see the pre-historical rock paintings depicting camel, ship, warrier etc.

0830 Hrs Pick up from Khasab Port

Full day Dhow Cruise with lunch Dhows are motorized and very basic. There is a possibility to swim off the dhow, but caution is advised when getting in and out of the water via the dhow’s ladder. Swimwear is acceptable for this tour only. Shady seating is available aboard the dhow.  This excursion will have great appeal for guests who look for a more unusual outing. After boarding your traditional Omani dhow pier-side, the cruise will take you toward Musandam’s longest and most spectacular fjord, which is often referred to as ‘Norway of the Arabia’ calm, turquoise waters contrast with the creamy white limestone cliffs. Along the way you will pass small fishing villages and perhaps even encounter dolphins. The dhow will anchor in the vicinity off Telegraph Island, allowing you to take a swim or just sit back and enjoy soft drinks, tea or coffee while admiring breathtaking views of mountains rising in the distance to over 2,000 feet.  Then leaving the anchorage, continue this tour with lunch provided on board and another stop for swimming and snorkeling. After the tour leisurely cruise back to Khasab.

Pick up from Khasab Port and Tour is by 4-wheel drive vehicles (closed and air-conditioned). Driving is partially on winding mountain roads.   Guests on this adventure tour will be able to enjoy some of Oman’s most stunning sceneries. Board your 4-wheel drive vehicle and get ready for an exciting and breathtaking trip to Jebel Harim (translated as the Mountain of Women). With a height of 6,260 feet it is the highest peak on the Musandam Peninsula.  During your journey to Jebel Harim, you will be able to enjoy incredible vistas, including terraced mountain villages, lush Acacia forests and wadis (dry river beds). Following a drive of a little over an hour, a stop will be made at a Bedouin village located at an elevation of 3,000 feet. The village of Sayah, surrounded by palm groves, is one of the most picturesque villages on the Musandam Peninsula. After a stop for photographs and to enjoy this idyllic setting, continue with your drive to Jebel Harim. There will be time to admire the grand panorama from the mountain’s summit.  The return drive takes you pass Khawr Najid a stunning sea view point overlooking to Indian Ocean and then driver to  Al Khalidya nature park before concluding your adventure trip back at Khasab.
